We're nearing Spring Break and I’ve come up with a list of ideas for me and the kids to do at home! We aren’t able to travel anywhere for a vacation, so we’re making it a staycation with fun filled days and activities! Stay tuned all week for fun ideas! Today… simple, safe, DIY play-dough!
I love making play-dough with the kids. It’s free of toxins, lasts a long time, and super simple and quick to make. The kids can literally do it themselves.
Here’s what you need:
2 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
2 teaspoons cream of tarter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cups cold water
2-5 drops of essential oils
Mix flour, salt, cream of tarter, oil and water in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes. When the play-dough looks to have the right consistency, turn it off and let it cool. Split this batch into 2-3 balls and knead it, adding any essential oil you like. We love to make orange, peppermint, and Christmas spirit (Young Living brand).
Break out the glitter, cookie cutters and rolling pins and have fun!
When you’re all finished, store it in an airtight container or zip-lock bag for another fun day!
If you want to make it colored, you could add food coloring, but it may stain your hands during the kneading process.
