Are you a big buyer of Pedialyte or Gatorade? We are a go-to Gatorade family here - anytime we have long days outside, strenuous activity, or someone is feeling under the weather. We're always looking for ways to maintain our health, do more things ourselves, use more raw and natural ingredients in our foods, so why not with our drinks? You don't need to consume store bought electrolyte drinks - they are filled with dyes, sugars, and ingredients you probably can't pronounce. I urge you to try one of these, or make your own with these key ingredients!
Salt is the key ingredient to get electrolytes into the body. Electrolytes are basically salts – specifically the ions. Electrolytes are lost during exercise through sweat or fluid loss.
Raw or local honey is a natural sweetener that’s good for you and helps soothe tummy troubles
Fresh lemon juice contains electrolytes, such as potassium, magnesium and calcium, which help to restore hydration in the body.
My fourth key ingredient is added essential oils. They are so much more potent and beneficial - for example, 1 15ml bottle of Lemon EO contains about 75 lemons - WOW - so go ahead and a few drops of your favorite into these drinks!
Grapefruit Twist ½ cup fresh orange juice ½ cup fresh lemon juice 4 drops Grapefruit essential oil 2 cups water (filtered or purified) or raw coconut water 2 tbsp honey 1/8 tsp Himalayan pink salt
Strawberry Lemonade (KID Favorite) ½ cup fresh or organic strawberries ½ cup lemon juice 4 drops lemon essential oil 2 cups water (filtered or purified) or raw coconut water 2 tbsp honey 1/8 tsp Himalayan pink salt
Lemon Limeade ¼ cup of fresh lime juice ¼ cup fresh lemon juice 2 drops Lemon essential oil 2 drops Lime essential oil 2 cups water (filtered or purified) or raw coconut water 2 tbsp honey 1/8 tsp Himalayan pink salt
Do you have a favorite DIY Electrolyte drink recipe? I'd love to try it!
